(00A) I. Introduction
--------------------------------
Welcome to Hawk Eye's (me) Phantasy Star Online Episode III Cutscene FAQ. This
FAQ was written with the intention to provide an account of the fantastic
story board cutscenes that explain the plot of Episode III, but I decided that
I would include my own cutscene summaries as well. This can be used as a
reference for those wanting to check details of plot, or for those who can't
be bothered going through the game 3 times on each Story Mode. (Let's face
it; "Backup" wasn't even fun the first time.)
Anyway, the majority of the cutscenes will be riddled with SPOILERS, so I'd
advise you to turn back if you don't want to ruin bits of the plot for
yourself.
Additionally, before I begin, I only give permission for this FAQ to be hosted
at GameFAQs.

(00B) II. Heroside
--------------------------------
"This specialized invesstigation team follows the direct orders of the Pioneer
2 Principal Government. Using the new "C.A.R.D. Technology", this team solves
various types of dangerous cases."
- PSO Ep III (World Warp description)
The Hunters are the supporting group of fighters behind the Principal
Government on Pioneer 2. They reside within the Morgue, which is where most
of their C.A.R.D. technology is developed. They seem to constantly be one
step behind the Arkz, but are determined to put a stop to them.
The three main characters of the Hunters are:
- Sil'fer (HUnewearl)
- Kranz (RAmar)
- Ino'lis (FOmarl)
Their main goals are:
Sil'fer: She wants to find her sister, Sophia, who has been missing for quite
a while now. Break of the Darkside appears to know her, but due to
trauma, Sil'fer cannot remember the events surrounding Sophia's
disappearance.
Kranz: He is searching for his father, Blitz along with his fellow Hunter
Kylria. Both shared close relationships with Blitz and are determined
to find him.
Ino'lis: She has a crush on Kranz, but before Kranz can take notice of her,
Kylria shows up and distracts Kranz' attention. She can be air-headed
from time to time, which leads her to sometimes make bad choices.
--------------------------------
(00C) III. Darkside
--------------------------------
"This armed group challenges the Pioneer 2 Principal Government system.
Believing there are hidden motives behind the Government's actions, they
secretly follow the special investigation team. They believe they are the
only ones who can bring truth and freedom to the people of Pioneer 2."
- PSO Ep III (World Warp description)
The Arkz are the supposed rival force of the Hunters, but they really only
want to rid Pioneer 2 of the Principal government. Their base of operation
is located on Ragol and is known as R-Base.
The three main characters of the Arkz are:
- Break (FOmar)
- Endu (HUmar)
- Lura (RAcaseal)
Their main goals are:
Break: He too wants to find Sophia, Sil'fer's sister, because she is the only
one who knows of the location of the Great Shadow. He is an extremely
mysterious character who uses the Miyama sword technique which was
taught to him by Nef Miyama himself. Break doesn't want anyone to die
in their quest.
Endu: Endu is a very mysterious character with little knowledge of his own
true origin. His only real intention is to destroy the Germ, and he
doesn't fully know why he has to.
Lura: Break's close partner; she can come across a little strange at times
in that she acts like a human. She also bears an aura that surrounds
her body that Relmitos of the Hunters can see. She only really wants to
protect Break from any harm, but she is also searching for a Heart Unit
to make her fully functional.

(00D) IV. Cutscenes
--------------------------------
Now, onto the cutscenes. To view the cutscenes in PSO Ep III, you need to use
the required character for that particular Quest, as stated below. Generally
speaking though, the Story Character will make it obvious that something will
happen if you send them on that particular Quest, often requesting you send
them over the others. Whilst this does make it a lot easier to discover the
cutscenes, on occasion, the Story Character in question may be a little vague
in their comments.
This section of the FAQ is in this format:
QUEST: Name of the Quest required to be completed to activate the cutscene.
CHARACTER: Name of the Story Character required to activate the cutscene.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION: Basic overlook over the cutscene in Question.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE: Taken word for word from the game itself, this is the
dialogue that occurs in the cutscene.
NOTE: Some of the Cutscenes have poor spelling and punctuation, which should be
fixed in the Cutscene Dialogue in this FAQ for your convenience.

(10D) IV.a) Heroside Cutscenes
--------------------------------
QUEST: Fossil Find 2
CHARACTER: Sil'fer
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
This cutscene involves a meeting between Sil'fer and Break (of the Arkz). We
learn from Break that he knows of Sil'fer's missing sister Sophia, and hints
at some past relationship of Break and Sil'fer. However, Sil'fer remains
confused by the mysterious Break and decides to learn more about him and his
connection to both her and Sophia, setting up some of her prime objectives for
the duration of the game.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Sil'fer: I don't know what it is you're after...
But anyway, I'll win this battle!
There's a high price on your head.
So, I'd rather take you in alive.
But if you resist, I won't hold back!
...You must have been a really bad boy.
Anyway, you're worth a fortune, dead or alive.
Break: ...Heh...
Sil'fer: What's so funny?!
Break: ...Oh, nothing.
...So, why are you really after me?
Just for the sake of a mere 10,000 Meseta?
Or are you just a dog of the government,
wagging its tail at the mere mention of the Principal?
You'd better quit now. It's just a matter of time before you get hurt.
Sil'fer: No one talks to me like that!
What's so wrong with Hunters seeking bounties?
Do you even realize your position right now?
You just lost to me!
Break: Shame how money blinds people from the truth!
If that's all this is about, the Hunters have certainly fallen
from grace...
Sil'fer: What...?
Break: The people of Pioneer 2 are being deceived!
The government doesn't think of us as anything more than tools
to ensure their own power.
You'll realize that sooner or later...
Sil'fer: Shut up!! Even if that's true, so what?
We wouldn't be any better off following you people!
Break: Heh. Someday, we need to sit down and discuss the truth.
In the meantime, be careful of the government.
Oh, and one more thing... Don't get in our way.
You'll regret it if you do.
Sil'fer: Shut up!
Break: Hahaha! That aggressive personality of your's is just like Sophia's.
Sil'fer: ...!
Break: I'm sure we'll meet again. Think about what I said!
Sil'fer: W-wait!
...Sophia...
Ho-How...How did he know my sister's name...?
Who is he...?
</END CUTSCENE>

QUEST: Monument Watch
CHARACTER: Ino'lis
NOTE: Using Kylria will also activate an alternate cutscene in this Quest.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
A very heartwarming moment between Kranz and Ino'lis, but Kranz, being the
natural idiot that he is, completely misses the chemistry occuring between
him and Ino'lis. We get some insight into the relationship (or lack thereof)
between the two, and a few details about the characters themselves, such as
their age. It is undetermined how long Ino'lis has known Kranz for, but we can
assume that it was a long time ago, considering Kranz' apparent reaction to
seeing Ino'lis again.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Kranz: ...Darn. They ran away.
Are you alright?
Ino'lis: I'm fine, no problem.
Just a little tired.
Kranz: I see...
...Thanks for the help today.
Ino'lis: Huh? For what?
Kranz: Heh, never mind.
You know...
We were really supposed to have been born here on this planet.
Ino'lis: Yeah...Instead, we're "ship children."
Kranz: A lot of time has passed since we were born on Pioneer 2.
Ino'lis: If that ship is gone someday, we won't have a birthplace any more.
Kranz: If that happened, we'd just replace it with this place, right?
Ino'lis: But, you know, when you spend a whole 18 years on a ship...
Kranz: Has it been that long already? 18 years...
It's no wonder you look like a real woman now.
When I first saw you again, I was surprised.
"Is this really that same little Ino'lis?"
Gahahah.
Ino'lis: Oh, stop that... I, I don't know what to say.
This is so sudden...
Kranz: Everyone's getting older all of a sudden....
Ino'lis: I, I mean, I need some time to get my feelings together first...
K-Kranz...
Kranz: ...Hmm??? Anyway, shall we be on our way?
Looks like the wind's picked up.
Ino'lis: ...Hmm?
Kranz: What, is something wrong? Let's head back!
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Monument Watch
CHARACTER: Kylria
NOTE: Using Ino'lis will activate an alternate cutscene in this Quest.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Well, this cutscene revolves seemingly entirely around Kranz' Plot Arc, so you
may be wondering why is Kylria there. Well, if you follow the Kranz/Kylria plot
arc, it will make a lot more sense as the story pans out. Anyway, we find out
that Kranz' father (who we learn later goes by the name "Blitz") was actually
a complete jerk to his family, but this doesn't seem to bother Kranz much.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Kylria: Looks like you're ok.
The enemy ran off in a hurry.
Kranz: Phew, that was close. Thanks for the help!
Kylria: You're welcome. I'm glad I could help.
I've seen you around before... In the Morgue.
Kranz: Well, I'm quite lucky to have a pretty woman like you
take notice of me.
Kylria: Heh. Actually, I received the mission from our commander.
I was protecting the Central Dome Monument.
And then I found you in a bit of a pinch.
Kranz: Gahahahaha! I see!
I'm Kranz. And you?
Kylria: It's Kylria. I just recently joined the Hunters.
Pleased to meet you.
Kranz: Ah, yes, I'd heard
we were recruiting more members.
You're pretty tough! Glad to have you around.
Kylria: By the way, when you were attacked, were you just on patrol?
Kranz: Ah...well, I was searching for something.
My...my old man's trail.
Kylria: Your father?
Kranz: It seems he was investigating something in this area.
Kylria: This area...you mean the Central Dome area?
Was he investigating the Pioneer 1 explosion, then?
Is your father from Pioneer 2? Or...
Kranz: Yeah, Pops came over on Pioneer 2.
He used to be a Hunter. After he resigned, it seems he spent most
of his time playing as some sort of detective...
Starting about four years ago, he began going away for long periods
of time. And then two years ago, he suddenly disappeared.
I figured he'd be back soon, so I didn't really worry about it, but...
Two years is a bit long, even for him. So, looking through the
materials he left behind, I found that he'd been searching the ruins
of the Central Dome explosion. When this assignment to protect the
Monument from vandals came up, I figured it'd be a good opportunity.
But when I started searching, I came across those guys.
I watched them from the shadows, but I accidentally made some noise.
That's when they found me.
Kylria: I see. And then I came in...
Kranz: Yep.
I want to find out what Pops was looking for out here,
and why he suddenly disappeared like that...
Kylria: ...
Kranz: Pops came over on Pioneer 2 with Mother.
About two or three years after they reached orbit, I was born.
After that, he spent all his time adventuring...I'm sure you can
guess the rest. He always left Mother on her own and eventually,
they divorced...I only remember one thing about him, his backside,
turned away from us. It seems I've got an older sister as well.
She's also a ship child. My sister went with my Mom, so I never
knew her. I can't recall anything.
Kylria: I see...
Kranz: So, that's Pops...Never thinking about the family at all.
Can't say all that much good about him...But, still, I'm the only
family he has...I have to go look for him, you know? I may not look it,
but I've got a strong sense of responsibility.
Kylria: ...I see. That's good.
You should be proud of yourself.
Alright then. I'm heading back. Take care.
Kranz: Ok. Thanks for your help today. I owe you one.
I'll search around a bit longer before I head back.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Called Out
CHARACTER: Sil'fer
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
This cutscene revolves mainly around the Sil'fer/Break plot arc, with a very
odd flashback at the end that only confuses Sil'fer further. The flashback
proves that Sil'fer and Break had met before, but Break apparently "had" to
stab her with his katana. The cutscene ends with little proper conclusion,
leaving the entire plot up in the air and pretty confusing, but don't worry,
as it is all cleared up eventually.
We find out that Sil'fer has lost her memory, and that Break is also looking
for Sophia because she is the only person who knows of "that place" (which I
believe he is referrering to the Great Shadow).
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Sil'fer: It's time for you to explain what you said last time.
...About Sophia.
How do you know about my sister?
...My missing sister...
Break: ...Hmm. So it's true...I'd heard rumors, but...
You've lost your memory, haven't you?
Sil'fer: I-I remember just fine!
It was...you...You took my sister with you...
...she never came back...Where did you take her?!
Break: ...So, you really don't remember...
..."Where did she go?"...Heh.
Hard to believe you'd be the one asking me that...
Sil'fer: ...?!
Break: I don't have any idea where she went.
That's what I'm trying to find out.
Sil'fer: So you did take her away! Where did you take Sophia?
Where is my sister?!
Break: She was the only one who knew of that place. I was hoping you knew...
But your memory...
Allow me to answer your original question, how do I know your sister?
You, Sophia, and I...We worked together as a team.
Sil'fer: Wh...What...?
Break: It seems that your memory is quite jumbled...I wonder how much you
do remember...
Sil'fer: We were a team?? You... you can't possibly expect me to believe such
nonsense!!!
Break: I've been worried about you ever since...
I had to...you were...
<FLASHBACK>
That day...
I had to plunge it...
...directly into...
...your heart...
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Tower Check
CHARACTER: Kranz
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Here Kranz clarifies his father's assumed name, which as I pointed out earlier
is Blitz. We also discover that Kylria's Master also went by the name of
Blitz, which means that both she and Kranz are both looking for the same man.
Quite the coincidence, huh?
Also, the information surrounding Blitz is a little hazy, which may bring some
nostalgia to those who played Episode II, wherein the information given by
higher sources might not necessarily be the truth.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Kranz: Phew, looks like we finally took care of them...
I see they're as good at running away as ever.
Kylria: Are you alright?
Kranz: Yeah, just a few scratches.
Nothing a monomate can't handle.
...Well, we should start heading back.
Kylria: Wait a moment...You said...
You said you were searching for your father, right?
Kranz: ...? Yeah.
...What of it?
Kylria: What's your father's name?
Kranz: Pops' name...
I called him "Blitz." So, as far as I know, Pops' name is Blitz.
But when I search Pioneer 2's database for that nothing comes up.
I don't know what that means...
I guess it might have been his nickname. He must've been mixed up in
things that wouldn't let him reveal his real name. Even to his own son.
Kylria: Blitz...I knew it.
Kranz: Eh? Knew what?
Kylria: Yes, that's it. Kranz. My master's name is Blitz as well.
Kranz: ...What?
Kylria: My master, a long time ago. He was a comrade in arms, as well. He
suddenly disappeared about two years ago. I just remembered about it
the other day...He once said that he had a son named Kranz.
Kranz: ...
Kylria: Heh. This is perfect. I'm searching for Blitz as well.
My master and friend. Let's work together, ok?
Kranz: Ahh...Um...
Kylria: Well, anyway, we can talk more about it when we're at the Morgue.
We made a great team, the two of us. I searched all over for him after
he disappeared, but only recently did I finally find some clues.
Kranz: Clues...?
Kylria: Yeah. So let's look for him...For your father...Together. Don't worry.
He isn't one to die that easily.
Kranz: ...Heh. Yeah.
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Clean Up Job
CHARACTER: Ino'lis
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
A very very long cutscene that doesn't really go anywhere. This is essentially
just about Creinu and Peko attempting to lure Ino'lis to the Darkside;
literally.
However, this does show the cracks forming in Ino'lis' relationships with both
Sil'fer and Kranz, which is only emphasised with the pain she feels from being
ignored by Kranz. The end of the cutscene is pretty open, without telling us
what Ino'lis did next.
(On Pioneer 2, Ino'lis later jokes about the invitation with you, but the
prospect of joining the Arkz still seems pretty nice to her.)
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Ino'lis: Don't you think it's about time you gave up?
Creinu: My, you're pretty good. Stronger than I thought, and beautiful...
How about it? Are you ready to join us yet?
Ino'lis: No way!! Who do you think I am?!
I don't just go switching sides that easily! Right, Guykild?
Tell them...
...Eh?
Creinu: Peko!
Peko: I'm on it.
<*rustle* *rustle*>
Ino'lis: Gyaaak!
<*struggle* *struggle*>
What do you think you're doing?! Untie me!
Creinu: We weren't expecting you to join us right away, you know.
So, we've made some preparations for you.
Ino'lis: What do you mean, "preparations?"
Creinu: Well, are you really happy as a Hunter? Lots of restrictions, right?
Your clothes have to be this way, you hair has to be that way...
Ino'lis: ...Well, yeah...but...
Creinu: That doesn't suit you at all. You deserve freedom.
Ino'lis: I DO get to do what I like.
Peko: Aww, don't be so stubborn. We've got all sorts of food to eat!
Creinu: We will prepare, especially for you:
- Your personal quarters
- A personal training room
- A personal artist
- Personalized meals
And, best of all, you'll have your very own personal coordinator to
fully bring forth your natural beauty.
Ino'lis: I don't... quite understand, but, uh... it sounds really... personal.
Creinu: Yes!
Peko: Exactly!
Ino'lis: ...
Creinu: So, what do you think?
We aren't asking you to decide immediately.
We just want you to consider it carefully.
Do you truly despise the Arkz?
Surely not. The Arkz are only fighting to correct the despotic
government. Take a moment to think about which side really stands
for justice. And... Take a moment to think about what's really best
for you.
Ino'lis: But...But I can't betray my friends.
Creinu: I thought you'd say that. ...But, you don't have to worry.
We've already talked to Kranz and Sil'fer about joining the Arkz
as well.
Ino'lis: No way! They haven't said anything about that!
Creinu: Ohhhohohohoho!
Peko: Uhheheheheheh!
Creinu: My, of course they wouldn't talk about leaving their friends behind.
Ino'lis: I can't believe it!
Creinu: Now there's no hurry.
Take some time to think it over. And try asking your friends as well.
Though, I imagine they'll probably just refuse it.
Ino'lis: ...
Creinu: Reach us by using the address on our last letter.
We'll send another.
Farewell for now.
Peko: Uheheheh...
Ino'lis: Hey, wait...Wait a minute, are you just leaving us like this?!
Hey!!
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Delicious Dish
CHARACTER: Kranz
NOTE: This is a Side Quest. To reach it, you must have completed the set jobs
in the Phantom Shop Sub-Plot, one of the alternate Quest branches.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
This one is considerably more interesting than the Cutscene after the quest
"Clean Up Job". Creinu, Peko and Memoru (who doesn't actually appear, but is
part of the Trio) apparently knew Blitz. Blitz' health status is quite
confusing, as the Trio state Blitz was alive not long ago, yet when they are
talking amongst themselves, the Trio talk as if Blitz is still on Ragol
somewhere. Blitz appears to play a key role for both the Hunters and the Arkz.
Creinu and Peko again attempt to sway the Hunters to join their side and cause
conflict, but Kranz appears to be quite adamant in his stance. (considerably
moreso than Ino'lis was)
Peko drops a massive hint as to the relationship between Kranz and Kylria.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Kranz: Hey! You're not getting away this time. I've got a few things I've been
wanting to ask you.
...About Blitz.
Peko: Why should we have to tell you anything, huh?
Kranz: Because Blitz is my father.
Creinu: Interesting...So you're Blitz's son...
Kranz: That's right. Pops told me a lot of things...He also told me to contact
you guys if something happens to him.
Creinu: Blitz said to contact us...? Teehee...Ahohohoho!
There's no way that's true! Blitz...? He would never send you to us!
Sure, we did team up with him for a bit...But he's a loner at heart.
You'd be better off talking to that Hunter woman than to us.
You know who I mean. The one who partnered with Blitz.
Kranz: Kylria?!
Creinu: Is that her name? She knows more about him than we do. She's the
first one that lone wolf ever teamed up with.
Peko: Even though she's young enough to be his daughter...
Creinu: That might have been what did him in....
She probably betrayed him.
Kranz: What?! No way! Kylria would never do something like that.
Peko: You sure about that? Heh.
Kranz: Grr...
Peko: Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell you one thing. At least until
a short while ago, your pops was alive.
Kranz: What?! He's alive?! Wait..."was" alive?
What does that mean?!
Creinu: We got a message from him just recently.
Peko: Beats us what happened to him after that.
Creinu: Well, have fun searching for him, anyway. If you do find him,
we'd like to hear about it. Because he has an awful lot of
explaining to do.
Kranz: Where did his transmission come from?
Peko: You don't really think we can tell you THAT, do you? Heh heh.
Creinu: It's alright. Go ahead and tell him.
Peko: Huh? You sure?
Creinu: Sure, sure. It's fine.
(We'll follow him, see?)
(If he's really his son, Blitz might actually show up.)
Peko: Ok, whatever. It came somewhere from Unguis Lapis.
Creinu: Of course, it's up to you whether you want to believe us or not.
Kranz: ...
Creinu: Catch ya later. If you run into Blitz, give him my regards.
Kranz: Wait! I still-
<EXPLOSION>
Ahh!
Ugh! There were more of them?!
...Unguis...
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Phantom Shop 3
CHARACTER: Kylria
NOTE: This is a Side Quest. To reach it, you must have completed the set jobs
in the Phantom Shop Sub-Plot, one of the alternate Quest branches.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
More Blitz stuff. This cutscene is heavily reminiscent of Flowen's messages in
Episode II; the very nature of the messages is almost exactly replicated.
Blitz apparently anticipated the Kranz and Kylria would meet up, from what we
learn about the message pod.
Also, the Germ which is used to make the C.A.R.D. Technology may be another
parasitic lifeform, like Dark Falz, as Blitz states that it is keeping him
alive so it can grow and obtain a new body.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Kylria: This place...Isn't this the place they told you about the other day?
Kranz: Now that you mention it, the fat one said that it was...um...
"Unguis," yeah...Wait, this IS Unguis! But was Pops really here?
Kylria: They said he sent a transmission from here, right?
Kranz: Yeah, but who knows if that was true or not...
Kylria: When I heard about it, I checked the transmission records...
But I couldn't find anything useful. I found several records, but
I couldn't tell which, if any, were from Blitz.
Kranz: In other words, if we don't find any clues here, we're
pretty much stuck...
Kylria: Looks like it...
Kranz: This isn't good. I don't see anything around here at all...
Kylria: ...Yeah. Since the Arkz have been here, they've probably been
searching as well. The transmission might've originated here,
but nothing's left now...
Kranz: Oh well, not much we can do about it. I'm going to head back and look
for other leads. How about you?
Kylria: Yeah, me too...
Mysterious Voice (Blitz):
Kylria... Kranz...
This is a specially programmed compact message capsule that only
activates when the both of you are here together. If you're hearing
this, then you two must be looking for me, right...
Unfortunately, it's too late. I can no longer return.
I was able to carry the Germ B-BACK W-WITHOUT DYING only because the
Great Shadow kept me alive and R-RETURNED me to Pioneer 2. It allowed
this to try to once again T-TO MERGE WITH a NEW LIFEFORM.
Uuuu...A-anyway...You must be C-CAREFUL of the Great SHADOW...
And...Kylria...Kranz...Stick together and take care of yourselves...
Kranz: P-pops...
Kylria: We can't tell exactly when this message was sent. He might
still be alive...
I'm going to keep looking for him. How about you?
Kranz: ...So will I...I can't just give up.
Kylria: OK, then. He may have left other messages like this. I'll put in
a request that we be sent out together as much as possible. So
we're going to continue being a team for a while. Don't worry.
He's not the type to keel over that easily.
Kranz: ...Yeah. You're right!
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Fish Rescue
CHARACTER: Ino'lis
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
*yawn* More attempts on the Trio's behalf to lure Ino'lis across to the Arkz.
They make more progress this time, and Teifu gets beaten up. Fun. There isn't
really any critical plot elements in this one, or at least nothing meaningful
yet...
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Ino'lis: I'm not letting you get away this time!
Memoru: Just calm down. You're too persistent! Men hate that, you know?
Creinu: *giggle*
Teifu: *giggle*
Ino'lis: I'm not persistent! I'm easy going. What do you know about men,
or love?
Love must be mutual. There's no such thing as a one-sided love.
Teifu: That's right. For many years,
Miss Ino'lis has stayed true to...
Creinu: Peko!
Peko: I'm on it.
Teifu: Hey, w-wait! What are you doing?! Please, stop!
Don't touch me...! Mmph!
<TEIFU IS TIED UP>
Memoru: There is no such thing as a one-sided love, eh?
Hahah! Realllly, now? Well then, I guess I might as well tell you...
Ino'lis: ...What?
Memoru: Your beloved Kranz...
Ino'lis: ...
Memoru: He doesn't care about you in the slightest. Did you know that?
Teifu: ...Mmph!
Ino'lis: ...What are you talking about?
Creinu: Well, let's just say when you get to spy on people, you can see
who's been talking secretly with who.
Ino'lis: That's low! Snooping through people's private lives!
Teifu: Mmph! Mmph, mmmph!!
Memoru: Of course, in Kranz's case, it's not like anyone really needed to spy
on him to see what was going on.
Ino'lis: Kranz said that he enjoys being together with me!
Memoru: He-hee. This girl's an idiot! She thinks he's in love with her
just because he said something like that...
Ino'lis: Hey, I'm not an idiot!!
Creinu: Anyway, feel free to join us anytime. If you feel down, we can help.
A lot of our members needed to leave Pioneer 2 for one reason
or another.
Teifu: Mmmph?!
<PEKO KICKS TEIFU>
Mmp... mmm...
Ino'lis: I'm not joining up with you Arkz! I'll never go anywhere
without Kranz!
Creinu: Even if he doesn't love you...And even if you know he never will?
Ino'lis: ...?!
Creinu: Anyway, you can make up your mind whenever. There's no rush.
Ino'lis: ...
Memoru: Well, then. Peko!
Peko: I'm on it.
Memoru: Eeeek!
Creinu: Hey! You almost got us too!
Peko: Heheho ho.
Memoru: Ow ow ow...Stupid Peko...
Ino'lis: Kranz...He...He wouldn't...He would never leave me!!

QUEST: Morgue Attack (Pre Battle)
CHARACTER: Any
NOTE: This cutscene appears also in the Darkside Story in "Morgue Raid".
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Well, Ino'lis apparently was lured across, mainly because she wanted to get
Kranz' attention. A few confrontations here, mainly between Relmitos and Break
who are explained moreso in the Darkside Story. Essentially, Relmitos was
Break and Orland's master.
Relmitos attempts to make out Break and the Arkz as hypocrites for using the
same technology of that which they wish to destroy, but Break points out that
after the events are over, they will destroy their own Cards. Everything is
pretty tense, if you couldn't tell.
For more information on Nef Miyama, see the cutscene for the Quest "Last
Chance 3".
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
ANNOUNCEMENT: Intruders detected.
Residents in Areas HA-5, 6, 12 and 13, please evacuate the
premises. The intruders are unidentified, but are presumed to be
armed and dangerous. Exercise caution. Repeat...
Voice (Break): If you don't resist, you won't be harmed.
Break: We are the Arkz. We are fighting the Principal Government to protect
the sanctity and civil rights of the people of Pioneer 2.
Please do as we say and do not resist. This C.A.R.D. laboratory
will be destroyed.
Kranz: We'll put a stop to you!!!
Ino'lis: Kranz, please! Just do what they say!
Kranz: Ino'lis?! You took her hostage?! You dirty...!
Ino'lis: ...No...No, Kranz, it's not like that...I'm...
Break: She came to us of her own free will.
Kranz: Wh-what?!
Relmitos: Break! You're after the data in the central control room,
aren't you?
Break: ...That's correct. But the C.A.R.D. Technology also stands in the way
of our goals. The government has kept it secret, so people aren't
aware of its danger! Think! Any object can be so easily rematerialized
using that technology. The desire for control of such a magical
capability has stirred plenty of ugly conflicts, even within the
government of Pioneer 2! But that power comes with the incredibly high
chance of infection and death. If the disease becomes an epidemic,
they couldn't possibly prepare enough vaccine for everyone. That is,
if they even have a full vaccine ready! It's only a matter of time
before this germ spreads and destroys this world. The Principal
Government knows this, and yet they've been blinded by their struggle
for power and have chosen to ignore the danger. You KNOW I'm right,
Relmitos! Or should I say...Nef Miyama!
Relmitos: Break...
Break: Therefore, we have no choice but to eliminate it. I'm sorry, but
before the C.A.R.D. Technology has a chance to spread, we're going
to destroy this place.
Relmitos: You're using that technology yourself. What do you plan to do
about that?
Break: As soon as it's all over, we'll destroy
ours as well.
Orland: ...We can't simply stand back and let you go on! It's our duty to
protect it! Sorry, but if that's what you want, we have no choice
but to fight.
Break: Orland...I won't let anything...or anyone...stand in my way!! Orland!!
Orland: ...It's too bad it had to be like this...Break...
Break: Let's do it!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Morgue Attack (Post Battle)
CHARACTER: Any
NOTE: This cutscene appears also in the Darkside Story in "Morgue Raid".
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
What happens here may seem a bit odd, but in essence, Kranz realised that
the Arkz' field-lock wouldn't hold if no one was within it, so, Kranz dived
bravely into the fray and placed his own field-lock over the bomb, containing
the explosion, but killing himself.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Voice: The bomb is set!
Field-lock complete!
Kranz: I'll put a stop to that!
Voice: You can't! It's too late!
Voice: Stop!!
Kranz: AAAARRRGGHH!
Sil'fer: Kranz!!
Ino'lis: NOOOOOOO!
Voice: KRANZ!!!!
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Truth Seeker 4
CHARACTER: Sil'fer
NOTE: This is a Side Quest. To reach it, you must have completed the set jobs
in the Homework Help Sub-Plot, one of the alternate Quest branches.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Massive revelations here; it turns out that Break was actually saving Sil'fer's
life when he...erm...stabbed her through the heart. Kranz is most likely a
clone, due to the fact he got an explosion right in the face. Also, the
Principal Government on Pioneer 2 sounds nearly as corrupted as the Principal
Government on Pioneer 1, which resulted in the crew of Pioneer 1 being
destroyed.
The location of the Great Shadow is where the Photon Flows intersect, which is
where Sophia died. At this point, we can only assume what Break and Sophia's
relationship was based on, but through the Darkside Story, it is clear that
they loved each other. Both the Hunters and the Arkz share a relatively
common goal now; find and destroy the Germ.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Break: You've grown a lot stronger since last time.
...Far more skilled than you were when I was still teaching you.
Sil'fer: ...What I really want to do is avenge Kranz...Now.
Break: ...
Sil'fer: Now tell me why you called me here!
Break: ...I'm sorry about Kranz...I never expected him to head for the bomb
after it had been set...I didn't think he'd be so courageous...
I didn't intend for anyone to die...
Sil'fer: He's not dead.
Break: ...
Sil'fer: Kranz isn't dead.
Break: ...Not dead?
Sil'fer: ...
Break: He died. There's no question about it. You saw it as well as I did.
If he's come back to life...That's merely a different person who
thinks the same, talks the same, and remembers the same experiences.
If the government brought him back as a clone...that must mean he
knows about something important...something they want..
Cloning technology is top-secret, even within the government itself!
If people knew about it, their fear of death would completely
disappear. Let me tell you this. The government has future plans for a
new society using the clone technology derived from C.A.R.D.
technology. Clones identical to those who died would continue their
lives just as before. But, clones themselves have no memories of the
original person...However, inside each clone, there's a chip
containing the memories of the original person. The brain of the clone
is synchronized with the chip, so the clone itself believes that IT is
the one who really had all those experiences. In other words, the
clone doesn't even realize that it's a clone. Amazing, huh?
Sil'fer: Is that all you have to say?!
Break: "All?" Doesn't that mean anything to you? You know of the mandatory
ID check body scans...The government isn't doing it for public health
or for whatever lie they say. Actually, they're scanning your memory
and-
Sil'fer: I don't care about all that talk! What happened to my sister?!
Break: ...Sophia is...Sophia is dead.
Sil'fer: ...What?!
Break: ...Sil'fer...Is your memory still not back yet?
Sil'fer: Memory...
Break: ...It happened long ago...Sophia and I made a great team. We didn't
take jobs from the corrupt government. We took on small jobs,
for individuals... After a while, Sophia's younger sister, that
would be you, joined our team. You really admired our team harmony.
Sil'fer: Join... with you?! You're lying!
Break: Things went well for a while. That is, until we found out about IT...
We should have never gotten involved...It was called the "Great
Shadow." As we investigated it, we learned that it wasn't just
dangerous...We learned that it might threaten the entire population
of Pioneer 2. On top of that, the Principal Government knew about it,
but was keeping it a secret. Knowing this danger, we still chose to...
...Ugh...What can I say...We were dreaming. We dreamed of being
heroes. Sophia and I originally intended to go it alone...You
realized something was up and got worried, so you followed after us.
In the end, we merely succeeded in exploring the area...but we became
infected. I had already vaccinated myself, so I was alright, but...
You and Sophia were infected. There was no time for hesitation. I had
no choice. I gambled, and plunged the antidote directly into your
heart. It turned out fine...Except for the fact that there was only
one vial...
Sil'fer: Wh... what about Sophia?!
Break: ...Sophia...died there, just like that...She was smiling...she said
she'd led a happy life...
"Death eventually comes sooner or later..."
"...so don't look so sad."
...And your sister left us...
Sil'fer: I can't just take your words like that! Tell me where that was!
Tell me where my sister died!!
Break: Now, it's a little ways north of Unguis Lapis. The undeveloped land,
where the photon flows intersect...If you're going, please be careful.
Don't throw away your life.
Sil'fer: I don't need you to tell me that!
Voice: Break... it's time.
Break: Yes. I got it. Take care, Sil'fer. Beware of the Great Shadow.
Sil'fer: Wait...Wait...Sophia...my sister...
</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Poachers
CHARACTER: Kranz
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Kranz' lack of memory surrounding the Morgue attack corroborates Break's theory
that Kranz is a clone; Kranz only remembers up till the point of his last
memory recording.
Now we discover why Blitz and Sophia are so important; both were the only ones
who knew of the location of the Great Shadow. The Germ killed Sophia, it seems,
but used Blitz to get back to Pioneer 2.
It's also pretty obvious now that Kranz and Kylria are definitely brother and
sister.
Kylria states that the Arkz are rumored to be merely a faction of the
government which they supposedly are against and are set up to locate the
Great Shadow. This seems a little strange, what with the constant battles
occuring between the Hunters and the Arkz.
It seems that the Hunters now are leaning towards the standpoint of the Arkz,
wanting to destroy the Germ before anyone else can get their hands on it.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Kranz: Are you alright? I'm surprised they were able to give you so much
trouble. Don't start getting careless, now.
Kylria: Kranz! Is it ok for you to be up and about?
Kranz: Gahahaha...Looks like I kept you all waiting for a while. Everyone's
worried about me, but I don't even remember getting hurt. Anyway,
I'm in perfect shape now!
Kylria: ...I'm glad to hear it. You had me worried there.
Kranz: Sorry to make you worry.
Kylria: While you were resting, I did a little research. It seems that Blitz
was the first on Pioneer 2 to know the location of the Great Shadow.
Kranz: What's this "Great Shadow?" anyway? It sounds familiar...
Kylria: The Great Shadow is what produces the "Germ."
Kranz: ...Germ?
Kylria: A substance that regenerates, dissolves, then re-forms, evolved.
That's the nature of the Germ. The C.A.R.D. Technology that you use
is made possible by the Germ. It can copy physical objects, then
disassemble and compress them. Then, by merely applying the proper
key, it can recall those objects back into physical existence.
Kranz: ...I think I'll let you worry about complicated stuff like that.
So, what did Pops have to do with it?
Kylria: Blitz was the one who first brought it back to Pioneer 2. At first,
they just thought it was some new disease. But as research progressed,
they came to realize the amazing potential hidden inside it.
But they weren't able to successfully duplicate it, so research was
only able to use the small sample that was brought back. The C.A.R.D.
devices you use each contain a tiny amount of the Germ. Even that
small amount is enough to materialize a certain amount of matter.
If someone were to find the location of the Great Shadow, they would
instantly become the most powerful person on Pioneer 2, not to mention
gain the ability to direct the future of all life on Ragol. They'd
even get the power to take over our home planet, Coral, itself.
Anybody who knows about it can't help but dream about it. The
politicians aboard Pioneer 2 are constantly fighting behind the scenes.
Kranz: Well, that's not something that really concerns me.
Kylria: Think so? Officially, the Arkz are a resistance group opposed to the
government and its human rights violations, but it's rumored that
they're really a working faction of the government; a fake organization
created specifically to find the Great Shadow.
Kranz: ...Whoah....I almost feel kind of sorry for those Arkz members.
So, anyway, what happened to Pops after he got back with the Germ?
Kylria: The Germ uses people as hosts and eventually kills them. That's why
they called it a germ...because it seems like just another contagious
disease. Blitz was infected, but for some reason, he survived.
He'd developed immunity. No one knows how. After he recovered from
the disease, he disappeared. And according to my investigations, this
was his last known spot.
Kranz: ...!
Kylria: There's a message.
Blitz: Th-th-th-th-THIS
Th-THIS IS MY FINAL MESSAGE...I have lost... my...B-BODY TO THE GERM.
I CAN NO LONGER MOVE FREELY...MANKIND MAY ONE DAY FIND THIS GREAT
SHADOW...This p-POWER IS IMMENSE...BEYOND HUMAN UNDERSTANDING...
I WILL HEAD ONCE MORE TO THE GREAT SHADOW.
I DO NOT KNOW HOW FAR I CAN GET WITH THIS INFECTED B-B-B-BODY...
IF THE TWO OF YOU SOMEHOW FIND THE GREAT SHADOW...
YOU MUST DESTROY IT...THAT IS M-M-MANKIND'S...O-O-ONLYYYYYYYYY-
*cough* *cough* *COUGH*
S-SORRY... HERE are...the coordinates...of the Great Shadow...
Be wary of the Great Shadow. If you find it, reduce it to ashes.
That's all I have left that I can say to you...Don't look so down.
If the two of you work together, you can do anything. I was never
able to do anything for the two of you...Please forgive me.
M-MANKIND's fate rests in Y-YOUR HA...

QUEST: Great Ambition (Pre Battle)
CHARACTER: Sil'fer
NOTE: Any of the 3 Main Characters will activate a cutscene (Sil'fer, Kranz and
Ino'lis), but your choice is limited to the one you used the most of the
three.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Sil'fer remembers everything; Break was telling the truth. What Sil'fer says
also hints at a relationship between Break and Sophia.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Sil'fer: I've finally found it. This is it...
...Eh...?
This emblem...It's...It's Sophia's emblem! Yes...I remember.
Break... Sophia...That day...I was worried about Sophia and Break...
I secretly followed them...And then...
Sophia's own vaccine was used on me...
I...Sophia...Break...Forgive me...
I destroyed your happiness...For Sophia and everyone...
I'll destroy the Great Shadow!
Yes...Now I remember it all...

QUEST: Great Ambition (Pre Battle)
CHARACTER: Kranz
NOTE: Any of the 3 Main Characters will activate a cutscene (Sil'fer, Kranz and
Ino'lis), but your choice is limited to the one you used the most of the
three.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Kranz apparently never knew your name. Almost makes you glad that he died. :)
Anyway, Kranz apparently hated Blitz, but put his hatred behind him to help
his father. I'm not sure whether or not Blitz is alive or not, because if he
was at the Germ, we can probably assume that it either killed him because it
didn't need him, or took total control over him. Either way, you don't get to
see Blitz.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Kranz: I left Kylria behind. I hope she's not mad at me. I never did like Pops,
to be honest. He was too self-centered, and he never took care of
Mother. But he's still my father and all. Parents and children don't
get to choose each other. Not much you can do...I'll just accept
the fact that I got stuck with a troublesome father. Nothing worth
complaining about any more. I have to go save him...Commander, you
still there?
I just wanted to say thanks for everything. I never did get a chance
to ask you your name. I kept reminding myself to, but...Anyway,
sorry about that.
Pops...I'll be there soon. Wait for me!
</END CUTSCENE>

QUEST: Great Ambition (Pre Battle)
CHARACTER: Ino'lis
NOTE: Any of the 3 Main Characters will activate a cutscene (Sil'fer, Kranz and
Ino'lis), but your choice is limited to the one you used the most of the
three.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Ino'lis is blaming herself for everything that happened. She has set herself
away from Kranz and only looks at him from the shadows. Ino'lis acknowledges
that Kranz actually did die, and quite messily too, meaning Kranz is definitely
a clone, and was probably only brought back so he and Kylria could get the
co-ordinates of the Great Shadow's location. So, Ino'lis is wallowing in self
pity in a pretty sad scene.
Essentially, this really hasn't been Ino'lis' greatest day.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Ino'lis: (No one cares about me. No one notices me. All I've ever done,
is mess up.)
(What should I have done? I...I...)
(But Kranz is alright. I'm glad...They said that our technology
saved him.)
Hehehaha!
(How could it be!!!??? He was blasted into bits. Nothing left...
just bits...)
(How could he be "alright?")
(It can't...I don't see how it can be true. But if he's safe,
then I'm happy.)
(As long as Kranz is safe...)
(I've heard it's dangerous here. That's why I asked. Thank you,
Commander.)
(Kranz had been wanting to come here.)
(I'm here first. I'll make sure he's safe by helping him from
the shadows.)
(That's all someone like me can do. Someone who killed the one
she loved most...)

QUEST: Ruin Smugglers
CHARACTER: Break
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
First encounter between Break and Sil'fer. Break obviously knows more than he
is telling, and he also mentions Sil'fer's missing sister, Sophia. Other than
that, the scene is pretty standard; Arkz preaching to the Hunters about how
they are being deceived by the Government.
One odd thing; this cutscene is activated when Break beats Sil'fer, but in the
cutscene itself, Sil'fer is under the misconception that she won the fight.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Sil'fer: You'll have to do better than that! Sorry, but this battle's just
beginning! There's a high price on your head....So you must've really
been a bad one! Anyway, you're worth a fortune, dead or alive. And,
I'm going to make that fortune mine!
Break: ...Heh...
Sil'fer: What's so funny?!
Break: ...Oh, nothing...So, why are you really after me? Just for the sake
of a mere 10,000 Meseta? Or are you just a government dog that blindly
obeys Dol Grisen? You'd better quit now. It's just a matter of time
before you get hurt.
Sil'fer: No one talks to me like that! What's so wrong with Hunters going
after bounties? Do you even realize the position you're in right now?
You just lost to me!
Break: It's a shame the way money blinds people from seeing reality...If
that's what this is about, the Hunters have fallen from grace.
Sil'fer: What...?
Break: The people of Pioneer 2 are being deceived. The government doesn't
think of them as anything more than...tools to ensure their own power.
You'll realize that sooner or later...
Sil'fer: Shut up!! Even if that's true, so what? We wouldn't be any better
off following you people!
Break: Heh. Someday, we need to sit down and discuss the truth. In the
meantime, be careful of the government.
Oh, and one more thing...
Don't get in our way. You'll regret it if you do.
Sil'fer: You talk too much!
Break: Hahaha! That aggressive personality of yours is just like Sophia's.
Sil'fer: ...!
Break: I'm sure we'll meet again. Until then, think about it.
Sil'fer: W-wait! ...Sophia...Ho-How...How did he know my sister's name...?
Who IS he...?

</END CUTSCENE>

<FLASHBACK>
That day...
I had to plunge it...
...directly into...
...your heart...
</END CUTSCENE>
Yeah.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Clean Up Job
CHARACTER: Ino'lis
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
A very very long cutscene that doesn't really go anywhere. This is essentially
just about Creinu and Peko attempting to lure Ino'lis to the Darkside;
Hey!!

I still-
<EXPLOSION>
Ahh!
Ugh! There were more of them?!
...Unguis...

</END CUTSCENE>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUEST: Fish Rescue
CHARACTER: Ino'lis
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
*yawn* More attempts on the Trio's behalf to lure Ino'lis across to the Arkz.
They make more progress this time, and Teifu gets beaten up. Fun. There isn't
really any critical plot elements in this one, or at least nothing meaningful
yet...
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Ino'lis: I'm not letting you get away this time!
Memoru: Just calm down. You're too persistent! Men hate that, you know?
Creinu: *giggle*
Teifu: *giggle*
Ino'lis: I'm not persistent! I'm easy going. What do you know about men,
or love?
Love must be mutual. There's no such thing as a one-sided love.
Teifu: That's right. For many years,
Miss Ino'lis has stayed true to...
Creinu: Peko!
Peko: I'm on it.
Teifu: Hey, w-wait! What are you doing?! Please, stop!
Don't touch me...! Mmph!
<TEIFU IS TIED UP>
Memoru: There is no such thing as a one-sided love, eh?
<PEKO KICKS TEIFU>
Mmp...

</END CUTSCENE>

QUEST: Morgue Attack (Post Battle)
CHARACTER: Any
NOTE: This cutscene appears also in the Darkside Story in "Morgue Raid".
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
What happens here may seem a bit odd, but in essence, Kranz realised that
the Arkz' field-lock wouldn't hold if no one was within it, so, Kranz dived
bravely into the fray and placed his own field-lock over the bomb, containing
the explosion, but killing himself.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Voice: The bomb is set!
Field-lock complete!
Kranz: I'll put a stop to that!
Voice: You can't! It's too late!
Voice: Stop!!
Kranz: AAAARRRGGHH!
Sil'fer: Kranz!!
Ino'lis: NOOOOOOO!
Voice: KRANZ!!!!

QUEST: Great Ambition (Pre Battle)
CHARACTER: Ino'lis
NOTE: Any of the 3 Main Characters will activate a cutscene (Sil'fer, Kranz and
Ino'lis), but your choice is limited to the one you used the most of the
three.
CUTSCENE DESCRIPTION:
Ino'lis is blaming herself for everything that happened. She has set herself
away from Kranz and only looks at him from the shadows. Ino'lis acknowledges
that Kranz actually did die, and quite messily too, meaning Kranz is definitely
a clone, and was probably only brought back so he and Kylria could get the
co-ordinates of the Great Shadow's location. So, Ino'lis is wallowing in self
pity in a pretty sad scene.
Essentially, this really hasn't been Ino'lis' greatest day.
CUTSCENE DIALOGUE:
Ino'lis: (No one cares about me. No one notices me. All I've ever done,
is mess up.)
(What should I have done? I...I...)
(But Kranz is alright. I'm glad...They said that our technology
saved him.)
Hehehaha!
(How could it be!!!??? He was blasted into bits. Nothing left...
just bits...)
(How could he be "alright?")
(It can't...I don't see how it can be true. But if he's safe,
then I'm happy.)
(As long as Kranz is safe...)
(I've heard it's dangerous here. That's why I asked. Thank you,
Commander.)
(Kranz had been wanting to come here.)
(I'm here first. I'll make sure he's safe by helping him from
the shadows.)
(That's all someone like me can do. Someone who killed the one
she loved most...)

(20D) IV.b) Darkside Cutscenes
--------------------------------
QUEST: Ruin Smugglers
